Abstract:
The evaluation of employees is a device shared between management control and human resources management. The study of five multinationals shows that most of the time it is integrated into the overall performance management system with complementary and stable components. Sometimes its status is more ambiguous and it is then an unstable boundary object between these two functions. The current evolution seems to go towards an increase of the managerial latitude in evaluation.
