Abstract: Post-bankruptcy entrepreneurs are generally stigmatized or even discriminated against accessing financial resources in the event of a new venture. However, cooperative banks are known for their ethical and social values, which are distinct from the values of capitalist banks. Therefore, we investigate whether the values displayed by French banks influence the decision of loan officers to finance the project of a post-bankruptcy entrepreneur. Through 12 interviews with loan officers from two capitalist banks and two cooperative banks, we show that there is a strong convergence in the perception of a demand for funding from a post-bankruptcy entrepreneur.
