Abstract:
Based on an ethnography and a sociogenetic analysis of independent music, this research proposes to study how independence is expressed as an aesthetic, socio-cultural and market category by analyzing particular modes of valuation (Callon, 2016) in a context of platformization of music. By exploring the logics and positioning of platforms and physical supports, it sheds light on how digital and material devices condition the ways in which music is disseminated and represented, but also the viability of its actors and their remuneration.
