Abstract: This research addresses logistics and supply chain management (SCM) skills from a gender perspective. More precisely, our research aims to study how men and women who work in logistics and SCM evaluate the skills they use during their missions. This subject raises the question of the situation of women and the representations concerning their skills in historically male professions. A quantitative study was conducted with 156 managers working in logistics and SCM in France. Contrary to previous surveys, our results show that women represent almost half of the respondents, they are present in the same proportion as men in the higher hierarchical levels (director and top managers). The research also outlines that gender has little impact on the perception of the skills needed in logistics and SCM. The differences in skill rankings are minor, and both men and women value human skills more highly than technical skills. The notable difference appears in the ranking of the first three key skills, all categories combined. Our study contributes to shed light on the situation of women working in logistics and SCM in France. We also extend existing studies on skills by integrating a little-studied perspective. In addition, we offer companies the opportunity to open the debate on gender diversity and the necessary evolution of skills in the face of the new challenges of the Supply Chain (SC).
