Abstract: In a context of tougher competitive environment for Champagne winegrowers, the authors establish a typology of these actors based on their personal characteristics and their economic activity, including their degree of vertical integration. Their results show three main categories of operators (the traditionals, the salesmen, and the pionneers) whose strategy is more or less adapted to cope with the market evolutions, depending on their ability and willingness to improve the value of their production.
