Abstract: China's contemporary development is based on the two pillars of material production and of services, which now constitute the majority of economic activities. To describe this evolution after 1978 (the year of the Economic Reform launch in China) within the framework of Marxist theory, the author proposes a functional classification of services as an extension of his works on "civilization goods".
