Abstract: In response to increasing unemployment, governments in developing countries such as Burkina Faso consider the promotion of entrepreneurship as an essential part of their development policy. This article aims to identify the determinants of students' aspiration to entrepreneurship, mainly from the perspective of economic theory following E. P. Lazear's theoretical approach. Students' entrepreneurial aspirations depend particularly on their skills portfolio and result from a trade-off between financial and non-financial expectations in employment. Other factors, such as personal and academic characteristics, are decisive in students' entrepreneurial orientation.
