Abstract: The commitment of corporations to the contemporary Grand Challenges is a growing collective demand and yet suffers from a large deficit of credibility. In this context, new governance schemes built around the expression of a freely formulated mission are emerging behind the name of profit-with-purpose corporations. In this paper, we rely on a single case study of a company that has recently formulated such statutory mission in order to build on the conditions for a credible and robust commitment in the context of Grand Challenges. In terms of results, we highlight the interest in building the commitment around the efforts to be made, rather than current or past contributions.
