Abstract: Drawing on company archives and interviews with managers, this article traces certain episodes in the history of PSA since the 1970s and develops an endogenous analysis of deindustrialisation. It presents the main stages in the industrial perimeter's reduction, which were each time aimed at reinforcing industrial profitability, while financial performance became more and more deeply embedded in PSA's DNA.
