Abstract: In a context of multiple institutional disruptions impacting the wine industry – highly dependent on exporting – this paper aims at understanding the effects of the pandemics on export managers. This work relies on the theoretical lights of the resource-based view as well as an empirical study focusing on the evolution of missions and competencies of French wine exporting companies managers. It combines the results of eleven interviews, two focus groups and a document research. This research shows that this specific context lead to several evolutions, among other an increased digitalization, a strong resilience and adaptation capacity, and also the development of new competencies.
