La mesure de l’inflation au défi de la redistribution et de la valeur

Post-Print from HAL
Abstract:
Measuring inflation is the result of two logics. Firstly, it is largely dependent on representations of what matters, since it requires precise answers to the following questions: what quality criteria should be taken into account to give value to the good or service? Who is taking the risk of asserting normatively that the changes observed are a supple- ment of 'quality'? quality'? Is the quality that is valued in this way encouraged or constrained? Secondly, inflation is a component of redistributive systems, because of the direct or indirect indexation of incomes, social benefits and other elements that play a part in household purchasing power. This article shows the importance of these two approaches in the measurement conflicts that have plagued the history of the consumer price index.
