Abstract: The objective of this study is to understand the motivations and social and cultural determinants of behaviors related to chronic diseases, as well as the experiences of disaffiliation and reaffiliation in the healthcare system, particularly in economically vulnerable populations. Fifty-five semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with participants from a health examination center. Motivation for health behaviors is not easily put into daily practice. This gap between health standards and practice often leads to feelings of guilt. However, informants have already integrated the reaffiliation process by consulting the health examination center, often prompted by concerns about their health, as well as the influence of the patient's relationship with their social environment.
