Abstract:
Like any manager, artcraftmen are led to recruit, train motivate and develop their employees' loyalty. Few studies have been performed on this type of firms. The objective of this work is to identify Human Resources (HR) management practices in artcraft firms. The survey conducted over artcraftmen, employees and representants of institution, reveals the reality and the difficultie of HR management practices in the artcraft firms. These practices are characterised by the arbitrary given the importance of the informal, with a centralization of decisions driven by the emergency of the situation and the pervasiveness of the emotional. We identify explanation factors linked to the specificities of very small enterprises and an influence to governance of the "craft sector". The key learning of this work is the emphasis of collective factors, i.e. the influence of craft identity and the weight of institutions on HR management practices.
