Abstract: The authors contribute to a discussion on the construction of health capital in the case of vulnerable populations. We examine how poor patients having chronic diseases operate a set of resources and competences to fit with both the moral ideal of responsible patients and construct a safe, trustful and understandable relationship with the healthcare system.
