Abstract: Dans le processus entrepreneurial, l'approche est dite causale lorsque l'on part d'un effet désiré (but) et qu'on recherche les moyens pour l'atteindre. Qu'un moyen nécessaire ne soit pas accessible, cependant, et le but ne peut plus être atteint. Pour résoudre cette difficulté, les auteurs proposent de mobiliser l'approche effectuale qui se limite aux moyens disponibles. Ils développent une heuristique permettant de conceptualiser ceux-ci, c'est-à-dire de les identifier et leur trouver une utilité pour atteindre le but fixé. Ils contribuent à la théorie des buts, en montrant comment des buts préexistants peuvent être atteints avec l'approche effectuale, à l'effectuation en étendant son domaine d'application, et à l'entrepreneuriat en proposant une articulation plus nuancée des approches causale et effectuale.The entrepreneur's conceptualization of his means to achieve a goal. An effectual heuristic In the entrepreneurial process, the approach is said to be causal when one starts from a desired effect (goal) and looks for the means to achieve it. If a necessary means is not available, however, the goal can no longer be achieved. To solve this difficulty, the authors propose to mobilise the effectual approach, which is limited to the means available. They develop a heuristic that allows them to be conceptualised, i.e. to identify them and find their usefulness in achieving the goal. They contribute to goal theory by showing how pre-existing goals can be achieved with the effectual approach, to effectuation by extending its field of application, and to entrepreneurship by proposing a more nuanced articulation of the causal and effectual approaches.
