Abstract:
Environmental goods valuation methods make it possible to estimate quantitatively, in monetary units, the value placed on goods that are not initially of a market nature, such as environmental amenities, ecosystem services, plant/animal species or other elements of nature and biodiversity. After considering the raison d'être of these methods, this chapter will define them and examine their interests and limitations. Here, we will focus on one category of these methods in particular: stated preference methods, while another category (revealed preference methods) will be examined in the next chapter. In each case, we will focus on examples and applications in the field of urban nature.
