Abstract:
The aim of this chapter is to define a conceptual proposal for understanding and theorizing the multiple relationships between, on the one hand, arts and culture - considered here primarily through the prism of cultural venues, in all artistic disciplines - and, on the other hand, territories - understood in the geographical sense of a portion of space experienced and appropriated by multiple interacting actors. To this end, I elaborated a triptych anchoring - embeddedness - footprint. This triptych allows for a more comprehensive conceptual approach, by examining art-territory relationships through the prism of three notions that metaphorically and theoretically evoke various facets of the subject: localization and spatial practices for the first, territorialized relational networks for the second, and territorial effects for the third. This triptych is conceived as a transversal, multi-disciplinary and dynamic approach to art-territory relations, enabling an analysis that crosses and transcends issues (urban, social, cultural, ecological, etc.), artistic fields (music, dance, etc.) and scientific disciplines (geography, sociology, etc.), while remaining sensitive to the evolving dynamics that interweave the arts and territories. Mobilizing this triptych highlights the complexity and ambivalence of the realities and challenges of cultural activities in territories, particularly in terms of social ties, cultural vitality, urban and social transformations, and ecology.
