Abstract:
Based on a study of the motivating factors of 170 Cameroonian entrepreneurs, we sought to verify the importance of perseverance in the success of entrepreneurial projects, in order to adjust the content of certain courses offered at the International School of Management and Entrepreneurship (EIME) in Yaoundé. The entrepreneurs surveyed largely highlighted the importance of perseverance, which bolstered the implementation of a pedagogy of perseverance in an entrepreneurship education program in Cameroon. This approach is built on the "theory of trying," based on the repetition of short experiences and challenges. The results show that students who followed this program developed attitudes more oriented toward perseverance, thus converging toward the depiction of Cameroonian entrepreneurs. This research contributes to the recent debate on the role of perseverance in pedagogy and proposes ways of deploying a pedagogy of perseverance among apprentice entrepreneurs in developing countries.
