Abstract:
While sustainable development constitutes a strategy that enables farmers close to the family model to adapt their farms to contemporary socio-ecological challenges, it is not without its tensions. Indeed, it implies roles recompositions by a transition to complex entrepreneurial logics in an environment made up of numerous stakeholders and resources which our longitudinal qualitative research seeks to characterize. The 51 life history interviews collected between 2019 and 2023 from 21 French farmers suggest that farmers who combine entrepreneurial dynamics and strong sustainability are more resilient to face challenges positively perceived.
