Abstract:
Social enterprises (SEs) are called upon to implement democratic governance that takes account of the diversity of stakeholders and ensures a balance between business and social logic. On the basis of a comparative case study, this article highlights the characteristics of a governance system dominated by a business logic and the absence of a democratic debate, resulting in accountability that seeks legitimacy. The configurations identified contribute to a more general understanding of the tensions in the governance of HEs.
