Abstract: This paper addresses the emergence and diffusion of diversity management in France based on a neo-institutional approach. For this, the authors consider non-discrimination at work as an organizational field structured around discrimination and the challenge of diversity management. They use the comprehensive approach to address the issue, together with the institutional change model outlined by Greenwood, Suddaby, and Hinings (2002) as an analytical framework. Through an analysis of the key institutional elements that have contributed to the implementation of diversity management in France (contextual factors, actors, initiatives, rethorical, techniques), the authors highlight the processes underlying the construction of the response to the challenge of non-discrimination at work. In conclusion, this paper questions the institutionalization diversity management in France. It shows that this question seems not yet seen as a "natural factˮ in the field of non-discrimination at work.
