Abstract:
This study examines the effectiveness of Moroccan retail banks' internationalization strategy in Africa. Using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), we analyze key factors influencing the success of this international expansion. The study covers 5 major Moroccan banks operating in 15 African countries from 2014-2023. Results reveal that local adaptation, technological innovation, risk management, and competitive advantages significantly influence performance, with local adaptation and technological innovation showing the strongest impact. This research enhances our understanding of banking internationalization dynamics in the African context and provides practical implications for financial institutions' expansion strategies.
