Abstract:
The phenomenon of inflation affects living standards around the world, with a cost of living crisis that has a global impact. High food and energy prices potentially affect 71 million additional people in poverty according to UNDP. This price increase has a direct impact on the purchasing power of households and can lead to financial difficulties for many inhabitants. Identifying the factors underlying these inflation costs is important because it allows researchers to understand the causes of the continued loss of purchasing power of the population in order to propose solutions to this problem. To detect the factors underlying this ineffectiveness of the monetary policy of the BCC, an ARDL model is recognized to estimate the short and long term dynamics between the variables in an econometric approach. Using this model, the results found stipulate that variables such as CPI, LPIBH, CC, SP have respectively negative, negative, positive and positive effects on final consumption expenditure per capita. Therefore, the problem related to the standard of living of the population in the DRC is more institutional than economic.
