Abstract:
This study examines Direct Neural Interfaces (DNI) in workplaces, devices that enable brain-device communication. While they boost efficiency, DNIs can detect users' mental states, raising concerns about performance assessment. Interviews highlight fears of dehumanization, privacy violations, and blurred personal-work boundaries. A "just culture" advocating non-punitive measures in firms is essential. The relationship of trust between humans and machines, especially bidirectional DNIs, is explored. Our results offer insights for DNI integration in workplaces.
