Abstract: This article provides a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the "how" and the "why" of the experiential value co-destruction in fairs and tradeshows. Drawing on a three-year multisited ethnography and adopting an interdisciplinary approach, it links the visitors and exhibitors' disengagement to a triple desacralization: that of the space, the time, and the content, followed by the dilution of the shared meaning of the event. A cooperation system based on trust and a common vision are the necessary conditions for participants, organizers and multiple service providers to build a new meaning for fairs and tradeshows. These secular rituals will thus go beyond their status of social orders showcases to become the laboratories for individual, collective and societal transformations.
