Abstract: Within the framework of this paper, our project is to propose an exploratory analysis of a corpus of Serious Games that talk about food, or Serious Games developed by food brands. Indeed, there is a great deal of heterogeneity and diversity, as brands and communications agencies mobilize all their creativity to reach their targets. In our view, these methods represent an innovation in marketing strategies aimed at young audiences, although we currently have no way of assessing their impact and effectiveness. By developing both a meticulous presentation of the games and an in-depth analysis of the gameplay, we will attempt to apprehend the diversity of the modalities of the video game forms used. Without wishing to propose a typology or to evaluate the relative weight of the various forms, we hope to uncover the ludic forms used in Serious Games, and to see how they relate to the forms of fun already identified and used in food marketing (Hunter, 2002). Questioning these links will provide an opportunity to examine current practices. Our aim will also be to compare this initial corpus with other Serious Games that have educational aims or denounce the abuses of the agri-food industry. The tension between the two will reveal the paradoxes in which young people find themselves, and in which they need to build their own convictions.
