Abstract: Geographical indications are a means of protecting local products. They are systems for valuing attributes of a product, a territory and its stakeholders. The process of implementing them is often complex. The objective of this work is to analyze the Deglet Nour GI system of Tolga, Algeria, using the global value chain approach. Through an exploratory qualitative approach, we have analysed the implementation of this GI, identifying its main sequences and key stakeholders. This enabled us to characterize the pace, verticality and management of the process and to identify its main constraints.
