Abstract: Statutory minimum wage indexation in France during the inflationary crisis", provides an overview of the interaction between statutory minimum wage indexation, collective bargaining and labour-cost policies in France. The piece shows that, in a context of wage restraint in collective bargaining, automatic indexation of the statutory minimum wage has remained the only driver of real wage protection in France but has not been able to secure adjustment to inflation of the whole pay scale. The contribution is instructive for reflecting on the relevance of different indexation mechanisms, and on the interaction between statutory minimum wages and collective bargaining, to protect real wages in the contemporary inflationary environment.
