Abstract:
This article explores the impact of design fiction on the development of creativity and cross-disciplinary skills in students, in response to the challenges posed by future crises. Using an innovative methodology combining design thinking and science fiction, this research sheds light on students' ability to anticipate and respond creatively to transformations in the world. This pedagogical device was used during a week dedicated to creativity and innovation to encourage students to devise innovative responses to future challenges. The results of the quantitative study, involving 220 students, revealed a significant transformation in students' perception of creativity, with increased recognition of it as a skill that could be developed. The majority of participants also reported an improvement in cross-curricular skills such as critical thinking, collaboration and problem-solving. The projects created demonstrated a wide variety of imaginative solutions to anticipated societal problems, reflecting the effectiveness of the method for envisioning the future. The discussion highlights the usefulness of design fiction in higher education to prepare students for changing professional environments. The study's theoretical contributions enrich the literature on innovative pedagogical methods, while its managerial implications underscore the importance of cultivating creative and forward-looking skills in innovation management. Design fiction emerges as a promising pedagogical method for equipping students with the skills needed to navigate an uncertain future, marked by ongoing crises and rapid transformations.
