Abstract: This article explores the role of patents and the possible existence of a link between them and job creation, which fills an important gap in the literature. Job creation being measured by the movement of staff among patented companies in a region of France. Usually, management sciences not really deal with the question of job creation from a quantitative point of view, but will rather evoke the consequences of axiology on organizations (Heinich, 2017), through the value of work (Guieu & Chanut Guieu, 2011; Burger-Helmchen, 2008). Our correlation is the result of a longitudinal study by cohorts over twenty years, which takes into account 100% of siren having had a patent issued in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur territory. The results establish this link for companies with less than 10 employees. The discussion exposed at the end of the article expresses an opinion about the application of this discovery to cause a theorical inflection of the unemployment curve in France, which gives a new societal meaning to innovation.
