Abstract: Ageing is marked by a shift in the way people relate to their future, especially when you consider motivational changes. We assess this aspect by a new psychometric tool: the Time Perspective Valence scale. It encompasses three main dimensions: an acquisitive one, linked to individual's projects; a familial dimension reflecting individual's motivations to take care of his/her relatives' goals; an "End of life" preventive dimension. The first dimension decreases during ageing while the last takes more importance. Eventually, with the help of the new scale, we point out effects of motivational changes on the financial choices of the elderly.
