Abstract:
This research aims to examine the entrepreneurial intention of immigrants by analyzing the personal and contextual factors influencing this intention. Through a qualitative study based on semi-structured interviews with a diverse sample of immigrant entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs in two very distinct countries, our research seeks to identify the specific dynamics that drive or hinder their entrepreneurial aspirations. The findings reveal that individual traits such as resilience, motivation to succeed, and self-efficacy play a crucial role in shaping entrepreneurial intention. Concurrently, contextual factors such as social support, access to financial resources, and professional networking opportunities are pivotal to immigrants' entrepreneurial intentions. Notably, the study highlights the importance of acculturation in the development of entrepreneurial intention, as individuals must navigate between different cultures and sometimes contradictory institutional environments.
