Abstract:
While the 21st century has almost completed its first quarter, French viticulture, like in many countries, is facing several major challenges: frequent and severe climate change, increasingly radical societal expectations, logistical constraints, new distribution and consumer difficulties driven by factors such as inflation and changing consumption patterns, as well as concerning regulatory and institutional developments within the industry. In addition to these structural challenges, there are other, possibly more localized and short-term issues, such as rising raw material costs, trade competition and retaliation measures amid geopolitical crises.
