Abstract:
Global Warming. Climate Crises. Carbon Dioxide. Sea level rise. Climate Migration. Climate War. Extinction… A lot of internal strength is needed to confront the news of our century and to change one's own and collective doings. Walking down another street to construct a sustainable future is a difficult endeavour and often coupled with falling in holes, deep questioning of oneself and the world around us. The journey is not linear but often punctuated with difficulties and self-doubts. In this study, anchored in reflexive (Allen et al., 2019; Cunliffe, 2022) and ecofeminist studies (Barthold et al., 2022; Dengler & Lang, 2022; Phillips, 2019; Phillips & Willatt, 2020), we wish to study and make visible parts of three female academic journeys that managed to take another street and participate in their academic fields and institutions in adding some new bricks in creating a more sustainable future. Our empirical research question is thus: "How do female academics walk down their own street towards more sustainable academic practices?"
