Abstract: What are the main theoretical discourses that justify the contract? This book is a collection of various works that draw on the societal and cultural universe to explore new avenues of reflection on the meaning of the civil law contract. We have opted for detours outside the usual doctrinal discourse in order to nurture an ongoing quest for epistemological renewal. Our aim is to promote a better understanding of civil contract law, as well as the construction and application of a coherent theoretical framework to fill the gaps left by conventional models. This very general objective is motivated by the recurrent crisis facing contract theory, i.e. a context in which the majority of contracts, which are generally the product of monological and individual expression, are intended for de-socialized, even reified, contractual parties.
