Abstract: The theme of cultural diversity, though long-standing in the cultural industries, has been only weakly articulated with the issue of capitalist ownership among players operating in these cultural markets. This paper establishes this link between these two topics through a quantitative study of the French book market. This article is based on a action research conducted with the French Booksellers' Federation. We analyzed data from 424 bookshops. We show that book sales concentration and capitalist concentration overlap.
