Abstract:
The article focuses on a single organization and the history of its reception: the work community of Boimondau, a French watch case manufacturing cooperative that operated from 1941 to 1971. A variety historical sources have been analyzed to identify the key characteristics of this organization and how it was received by both civil society and the academic community. In doing so, the article brings to light sociological, philosophical, and psychological foundations of managerial thought. It emphasizes the phenomena of omission in the construction of knowledge and the curative role of historical inquiry.
