Post-Print from HAL Abstract: Agriculture plays a strategic role in the process of economic development in developing countries especially in India. It is the backbone of an economy which provides the basic ingredients to mankind and raw material for industrialization. The development of agriculture sector is an essential condition for the development of an economy. Risks and uncertainty are always inherent in the agriculture sector. The risks and uncertainty mainly related to production, price and inputs. The present study is an attempt to analyze the trends of the crop insurance schemes implemented in Haryana. To achieve the objective of the study secondary data has been used which collected from the economic survey of Haryana and reports of agriculture insurance company. The period of the study is taken from the commencement to existence of the schemes. The results of the study indicate that all the schemes showing the fluctuating trends. Among the schemes only PMFBY is performing better because it has lowest premium rates in comparison to previous schemes and advanced technology is used for the assessment of crop loss as well as for the calculation of indemnity.
