Abstract:
The fair trade towns movement is emerging as a new form of certification that extends the standard fair trade certifications. It is, however, more than just an extension. It opens a new avenue for certification. The diversity of national and local practices involves both modes of action and coordination of highly variable actors. The criteria established at the international level are only a guide for action and not a grid of criteria that must be met to obtain a label. The diversity of actors also refers to a questioning, at least partial, of expertise. This movement in fact refers to an ethic of the forum and supposes to go beyond the epistemic injustices at the heart of the power of expertise.
