Abstract: Having suffered collateral effects from the Covid pandemic in 2020, the pineapple made its big comeback on the world stage in 2021. While the recovery continued in 2022 on the US market, where the pineapple is about to set a consumption record, in Europe not all the lights are necessarily green. This is related to productivity falls due to the effects of La Niña, fertiliser costs reaching sky-high levels, and above all the European market being distinctly less attractive because of the devaluation of the euro against the dollar, and booming freight costs. While production has been rising towards the end of 2022, there are questions hanging over the dynamic of the main importer markets.
