Abstract: This paper attempts to evaluate the effect of inequality of opportunities on education in Kolkata and its outskirts. An Access to Opportunity Index (AOI) has been computed with the help of four important indices on Health, Housing, Internet and Credit Facilities. Further the paper aims at developing a relation between different variables like gender, caste, religion and how these variables affect the scope of education among the masses.
