Abstract:
This paper aims to examine the perception of job insecurity among employees in France, with a particular focus on workers with disabilities. Using an econometric approach on the French ``Working Conditions'' survey (DARES), we investigate the social determinants of job insecurity, understood through two dimensions: fear of job loss and perceived unfitness for employment. We propose a typology of disability –recognized, unrecognized, and early-onset– to differentiate perceptions of insecurity and allow for comparison. These results are then cross-referenced with corporate prevention policies to assess their effectiveness in fostering a sense of protection among the most vulnerable workers. The study highlights cumulative effects of social inequalities (disability, gender, type of activity, and workplace environment) and supports a subjectivists approach to understanding structural social constraints.
