Abstract:
Environmental changes, including the transition to parenthood, influence our eating habits in both positive and negative ways. It appears that the phases of the parenting journey may provide insight into how parents make healthier dietary changes, particularly through understanding the role they wish to play with respect to their children. The purpose of the proposed qualitative study is to reveal five major phases of the parenting journey during which dietary changes occur; it also provides an understanding of the distinct roles of parents from one phase to the next, and the periods during which healthy eating is a major "tool" for parents in their protective, motivational, and educational roles.
