Abstract:
This research examines the choice of epistemological positions, particularly in the context of knowledge production in African settings. In light of the increasingly recurrent incompatibilities between contextual realities and classical epistemologies, a discussion of the myth of universalism becomes necessary. Among African philosophies, Ubuntu thus stands out as a mode of thought that is both agentive and methodical. From this perspective, the study develops a pragmatic epistemology of Ubuntu as a response to the question of the activation and validity of knowledge produced in situated contexts. Based on four interrelated postulates, this epistemology proposes a methodological framework suited to studies emerging from these contexts.
