Abstract: This talk is part of a doctoral research project in linguistics devoted to strategies of naming in discourses on ecological transitions. Based on a heterogeneous corpus (activist press, institutional documents, and reference works), it highlights the emergence of a specific lexicon carrying semantic and axiological reconfigurations. The paper focuses on the field of environmental commons, and more specifically on negative commons. The analysis examines the definitional forms and linguistic categorizations associated with this notion, situated between scholarly conceptualization and activist reformulations, thereby revealing its plasticity and its status as a notion in the making. Finally, the study shows how the lexicogenetic dynamics at work contribute to broadening, problematizing, and politicizing the notion of negative commons. This research is being developed within a collaborative platform, still under construction, with both scientific and pedagogical aims, dedicated to the challenges of ecological transition.
