Abstract: The main objective of this article is to propose an evaluation of the qualitative material to be included in a future design of experiments. These qualitative factors refer to two key aesthetic dimensions of book cover design: the visual imagery and the typography used. The contribution of the article is threefold. First, it proposes a methodology for evaluating these two factors. Second, it enables the development of "evaluative profiles" for book jackets. Third, it provides concrete recommendations for the redesign of a collection undertaken by a university publishing house.
