Abstract: While Michel Foucault's work has been widely used in management and organizational studies since the 1980s, the concept of the "dispositive" (dispositif), although central to his thought, has until recently remained little explored. This article revisits Foucault's conceptualization of the dispositive, outlines its recent transposition into management and organizational studies through "dispositional analysis", and highlights its analytical value for the study of purpose-driven collective action processes. It then offers a conceptual and methodological clarification of the notion of "dispositive formation".
