Abstract: This paper aims to examine the factors that enable individuals to choose mobile money (MOMO) or others digital financial services (ODFS) in Cameroon. The analysis is based on a sample of 3,168 household, drawn from a survey conducted by the ISSEA and MINEPAT. Drawing on the literature on technology choice, the econometric results, obtained using a recursive bivariate probit model, reveal that people using ODFS are less likely to use MOMO. Furthermore, in terms of the choice between MOMO and ODFS, some explanatory factors converge while others diverge. The converging factors include having a bank account, religious affiliation, age, and the needs to be met. Diverging factors include having a mobile money account, the advantages of using digital financier services, household size, education, income and the ability to send money abroad.
