Abstract: The implementation of teleworking during the COVID 19 lockdown is a case of extreme, massive and mandatory deployment of information systems in the workplace. This abrupt and sudden transformation of practices gave rise to a proliferation of humorous videos on the Internet depicting employees' emotional experiences. To explore the emotional dimensions of mandatory IS adoption, this study examines the feelings expressed in humorous videos about enforced teleworking during the pandemic. We developed a video analysis protocol and a coding framework to identify the types of humor employed and the emotions they evoke in viewers. Our findings categorize humor styles and link them to the instrumental, relational, and managerial dimensions of IS use, highlighting the critical role of perceived employee control. The study demonstrates that analyzing employee emotions can provide managers with valuable insights into the challenges of mandatory IS adoption, enabling them to better interpret workers' emotional responses and dynamics.
