Abstract:
Autonomous shuttles represent a promising innovation for sustainable public transportation. However, their social acceptability raises questions, particularly due to perceived risks, the absence of a human driver, and the emotional reactions triggered by critical situations. While numerous studies have examined the acceptance of autonomous vehicles using technological models (Nordhoff et al., 2020) such as UTAUT (Venkatesh et al., 2012), and AVAM (Autonomous Vehicle Acceptance Model by Hewitt et al., 2019) or CRUISE (Osburg et al., 2022), little research explicitly incorporates the role of emotions. In particular, this study focuses on anticipated emotions regarding shuttles that have never been used before and the resulting coping strategies.
